November 8 (SeeNews) - Albania's consumer price inflation accelerated to 1.9% year-on-year in October, from 1.6% in September, the statistical office, INSTAT, said on Wednesday.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 40% in the consumer basket, grew by 4.0% on the year in October, after adding an annual 3.5% a month earlier.
Housing, water, electricity and fuel prices, which have a weight of 20.7% in the consumer basket, added 1.1% on the year in October, after increasing at the same annual pace in September.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in Albania edged up 0.04% in October, after adding 0.4% in the previous month.
At the beginning of November, Albania's central bank decided to keep its key interest rate unchanged at record low 1.25%. Inflation is anticipated to return to the central bank's target of 3% around the first half of 2019 rather than in 2018 as previously expected.
