TIRANA (Albania), May 8 (SeeNews) – Albania's consumer prices rose by 1.4% year-on-year in April, after increasing by 1.1% in March, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 37.0% in the consumer basket, grew 2.7% in April, after adding 2.0% in the previous month, INSTAT said in a monthly inflation report.
Housing, water, electricity and fuel prices, which have 21.5% weight in the consumer basket, rose 1.2% in April, after increasing by 1.0% in March.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in Albania edged down 0.2% in April, after falling 0.3% in March.
In March, Albania's central bank said it decided to keep its key policy rate unchanged at record low 1.0%, as inflation is expected to return to the central bank's target of 3.0% in 2020.
