TIRANA (Albania), November 8 (SeeNews) – Albania's consumer price inflation decelerated to 1.9% year-on-year in October, from 2.1% in September, the statistical office, INSTAT, said on Thursday.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 38.6% in the consumer basket, increased by 1.8% on the year in October, after adding 2.6% in the previous month.
Housing, water, electricity and fuel prices, which have 20.9% weight in the consumer basket, added 3.4% year-on-year in October, after increasing 2.8% in September.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in Albania edged down 0.2% in October, after increasing by 0.2% in September.
Earlier this month, Albania's central bank decided to keep its key policy rate unchanged at record low 1.0%. Inflation is expected to return to the central bank's target of 3.0% in 2020, the central bank said.
