TIRANA (Albania), January 10 (SeeNews) – Albania's consumer prices rose by 1.1% year-on-year in December, after increasing by 1.4% in November, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The average annual inflation in Albania slowed to 1.4% in 2019, from 2.0% in 2018, INSTAT said in a monthly inflation report.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 37.0% in the consumer basket, grew 2.6% year-on-year in December, after adding 3.2% in the previous month.
Prices of housing, water, electricity and fuel, which have 21.5% weight in the consumer basket, edged up 0.1% in December, after growing at the same annual rate the month before.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in Albania rose by 0.8% in December, after falling by 0.1% in November.
Albania's central bank decided last month to keep its key policy rate unchanged at record-low 1.0%, as it expects inflation to return to its target of 3.0% in the second half of 2021.
