November 17 (SeeNews) - Albania's trade deficit expanded by 12.4% year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2022, reaching 374 billion leks ($3.3 billion/3.2 billion euro), the national statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports rose 35% to 404 billion leks in the period under review, while imports increased 23.1% to 778 billion leks, INSTAT said in a statement.
In October alone, Albania's trade deficit totalled 45 billion leks, up 5.5% year-on-year.
Italy remained Albania's main trading partner in the January-October period, absorbing Albanian exports of 178.1 billion leks and providing 169.5 billion leks worth of the country's imports.
Albania exported mainly textile and footwear, construction materials and metals and minerals, fuels and electricity.
