May 23 (SeeNews) - A tender for long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) called by Albania’s energy corporation, KESH, in March failed due to the high price of offers, local media said on Monday.
The tender for PPAs with a term of three and five years attracted five offers from three companies - Albania’s GSA, Swiss EFT, and Rumania’s EDS, local business news provider Scan said.
EFT offered the lowest price, of 169.77 euro/mWh.
The tendering process was aligned with the corporation’s strategy envisaging improvement of the energy security during dry seasons through long-term power purchase contracts, it said earlier.
In 2022, Albania’s energy exports amounted to 2,100 GWh, while imports stood at 3,044 GWh, the country’s energy regulator said earlier, attributing the deficit to the high dependence on hydropower plants amid dry weather.
