Albanian parlm endorses new govt

TIRANA (Albania), September 16 (SeeNews) – The Albanian parliament said it has approved the country's new government headed by prime minister Edi Rama.

The new council of ministers was endorsed with 82 votes in favour and 55 against, the parliament said in a statement posted on its website on Sunday.

Edi Rama is the head of the Socialists-led coalition Alliance of the European Albania.

Thirteen of the nineteen new ministers have been nominated by the Albanian Socialist Party (PS), five come from the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), and one from the civil society.

The Alliance of the European Albania won 57.63% of the votes in the June 23 general elections and has 83 seats in the 140-member parliament, while the right-wing coalition Alliance for Employment, Welfare and Integration of former prime-minister Sali Berisha got 57 seats. The Socialist party alone controls 65 seats in the new parliament while the Democratic Party has 46 MPs.
