May 14 (SeeNews) - Albania's Labour and Equal Opportunities Minister Anastas Duro resigned on Thursday as his Human Rights Union Party (PBDNj) has forged a coalition with the leftist opposition in the run-up to the country's June general election, the Albanian government said.
Duro, 56, a law graduate, was named labour minister in October 2008.
PBDNj has exited the ruling right-wing coalition and formed a coalition with the opposition Socialists, the prime minister's spokeswoman, Juela Mecani, said in a statement.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha has nominated Viktor Gumi to replace Duro. Gumi, also a law graduate, currently serves as a deputy justice minister.
The reshuffle of the cabinet line-up will have to be approved by the Albanian President to take effect.
Albania will hold a general election on June 28.
Since 2005, when Berisha took over as prime minister from Fatos Nano, he has replaced 10 of his 14 ministers. The ministers who have remained unchanged in the past four years are Finance Minister Ridvan Bode, Economy, Trade and Energy Minister Genc Ruli, Environment Minister Lufter Xhuveli and Agricultural and Food Minister Jenim Gjana.
