TIRANA (Albania), December 5 (SeeNews) – Albania's Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy said it has received applications for building permits for construction of two small hydro power plants (HPPs) in the northeastern region of Dibra.
Two local companies - Ro-Gent-1 and Tradita G&T, have submitted applications for construction of one HPP each, the energy ministry said in a statement.
The capacity of each planned HPP shall not exceed 2 MW.
Albania produces over 90% of its electricity from HPPs, most of it from three power plants along the Drin River, in the northern part of the country.
