TIRANA (Albania), December 11 (SeeNews) – Albania's energy ministry said on Tuesday it has received two applications for building permits for small hydro power plants (HPPs) in the regions of Dibra and Shkodra.
Local company Endri Peshku intends to build a small HPP on a tributary of Mat river in the northeastern region of Dibra, whereas the company Tradita G&T wants to build a small HPP on a tributary of Shala river near the northwestern region of Shkodra, according to a list of applications posted on the website of the energy ministry.
The capacity of each HPP will not exceed 2 MW.
Albania produces over 90% of its electricity from HPPs, most of it from three power plants along the Drin river, in the northern part of the country.
