TIRANA (Albania), April 30 (SeeNews) – The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased 12% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, reaching 3.97 billion leks ($35.6 million/31.9 million euro), official figures showed on Tuesday.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance added 10.2% to 3.6 billion leks, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 287.6 million leks, up 20%, according to figures published on the website of Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority.
Total gross claims paid increased to 1.5 billion leks as at the end of March, from 1.3 billion leks a year earlier.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
