TIRANA (Albania), May 30 (SeeNews) – The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers totalled 4.89 billion leks ($44.5 million/ 38.5 million euro) at the end of April, up 3.34% on the year, official figures showed.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose 4% year-on-year to 4.6 billion leks in the January-April period, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 323.14 million leks, down 6.24% from the prior-year level, according to figures published on the website of the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) last week.
Total gross claims paid decreased to 1.57 billion leks at end-April from 1.9 billion leks a year earlier.
The statistics comprises data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
