May 18 (SeeNews) - Albania's government said it approved a proposal for the expropriation of land worth a total 115.4 million leks ($1.1 million/1 million euro) that falls within a planned Technological and Economic Development Area (TEDA) in Tirana.
The expropriations, to be financed by the Tirana municipal budget, will begin immediately after the government decision is promulgated and will be finalised within three months, the government said in a statement.
The project envisages an investment of more than 102 million euro in facilities for the manufacturing industry, including car parts manufacturing, information technology, electronic equipment and agro-processing, the municipality has said.
The area designated for TEDA is located in the village of Kashar, 9 km from the capital’s center, as shown on the project website. It covers some 34 hectares, the government said earlier.
As many as 104 properties, of which 62 privately-owned, are affected by the project, local media have reported.
