TIRANA (Albania), November 13 (SeeNews) – The net profit of Albania's banking sector fell to 2.8 billion leks ($25.0 million/22.7 million euro) in the third quarter, from 3.3 billion leks in the like period of last year, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said.
The outstanding loan portfolio of Albanian banks shrank to 544.2 billion leks in July-September, from 553.7 billion leks in the comparable period a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, citing data of Albania's central bank.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,214.7 billion leks, from 1,210.4 billion leks in the third quarter of 2018.
The total assets of Albania’s banking system fell to 1,461.3 billion leks from 1.481,0 billion leks.
The figures comprise the financial results of 12 Albanian banks, as compared to 16 in 2018. The largest by assets among them are Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) and Raiffeisen Bank Albania.
