TIRANA (Albania), August 11 (SeeNews) – The net profit of Albania's banking sector for the first half of 2021 increased to 10.54 billion leks ($100.7 million/85.7 million euro), compared with 7.15 billion leks profit in the same period of last year, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said.
The Albanian banking sector's outstanding loan portfolio grew to 625.6 billion leks at the end of June, from 590.5 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, quoting data by the country's central bank.
The ratio of problem loans to total loans fell to 7.12% from 8.09%.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,336 billion leks at the end of June from 1,230 billion leks a year earlier.
The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,645 billion leks as at end-June, compared with 1,528 billion leks a year earlier.
Return on assets (ROA) increased to 1.18 billion leks from 1.03 billion leks. Return on equity also rose, to 10.98 billion leks from 9.13 billion leks.
The figures comprise the financial results of 12 Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) is the largest among them in terms of assets.
