March 10 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albania's banking sector rose to 2.25 billion leks ($20.9 million/19.7 million euro) in January, compared with 954 million leks in the same month of 2022, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said on Friday.
The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania grew to 712.6 billion leks at the end of January, from 670 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, quoting data of the country's central bank.
The ratio of problem loans to total loans fell to 5.10% at the end of January from 5.45% a year earlier.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,549 billion leks from 1,445 billion leks at the end of January 2022.
The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,900 billion leks as at end-January, compared with 1,772 billion leks a year earlier.
The figures comprise the financial results of 12 Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of June.
