TIRANA (Albania), January 15 (SeeNews) – The cumulative net profit of Albania's banking sector decreased to 16.8 billion leks ($153.0 million/133.4 million euro) at the end of November, from 20.2 billion leks a year earlier, according to data published by the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) on Tuesday.
The Albanian banking sector's outstanding loan portfolio also shrank, to 585.3 billion leks from 606.6 billion leks at the end of November 2017, AAB said in a monthly report, citing data of the country's central bank.
The ratio of problem loans to total loans dropped to 12.7% from 14.3% in November 2017.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,174 billion leks at the end of November from 1,163 billion leks a year earlier.
Albania’s banking system's total assets grew to 1,451 billion leks from 1,438 billion leks a year earlier.
Return on assets (ROA) decreased to 1.4 billion leks, from 1.6 billion leks. Return on equity also declined, to 13.0 billion leks from 15.8 billion leks.
The figures comprise the financial results of 14 Albanian banks. The largest by assets among them are Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) and Raiffeisen Bank Albania.
In 2017, the combined net profit of banks in Albania increased to 22.1 billion leks, from 9.2 billion leks in 2016.
