TIRANA (Albania), January 13 (SeeNews) – The net profit of Albania's banking sector in the eleven month through November 2019 rose to 18.3 billion leks ($164.9 million/148.2 million euro), from 16.8 billion leks in the like period a year earlier, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said on Monday.
The Albanian banking sector's outstanding loan portfolio shrank to 575.9 billion leks in the review period, from 585.3 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, citing data of the country's central bank.
The ratio of bad loans to total loans dropped to 9.53% at the end of November from 12.7% a year earlier.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,182.7 billion leks, from 1,173.9 billion leks.
The total assets of the country's banking system rose to 1,465.6 billion leks at the end of November from 1,450.8 billion leks a year earlier.
Return on assets (ROA) rose to 1.47 billion leks from 1.40 billion leks. Return on equity (ROE) also increased, to 13.50 billion leks from 13.0 billion leks.
The figures comprise the financial results of twelve Albanian banks, as compared to 16 in 2018. The largest by assets is Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT).
