TIRANA (Albania), August 6 (SeeNews) – The cumulative net profit of banks in Albania decreased to 11 billion leks ($101.5 million/87.7 million euro) at the end of June, from 11.5 billion leks a year earlier, according to data published by the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) on Monday.
The Albanian banking sector's outstanding loan portfolio decreased to 582.3 billion leks from 597.3 billion leks at the end of June 2017, AAB said in a monthly report, citing data of the country's central bank.
The ratio of problem loans to total loans dropped to 13.3% from 15.6% in June 2017.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,146 billion leks from 1,138 billion leks at the end of June 2017.
Albania’s banking system's total assets grew to 1,426 billion leks as at end-June from 1,394 billion leks a year earlier.
Return on assets (ROA) decreased to 1.7 billion leks, from 1.6 billion leks. Return on equity also declined, to 15.0 billion leks from 16.7 billion leks in June 2017.
In 2017, the combined net profit of banks in Albania increased to 22.1 billion leks, from 9.2 billion leks in 2016. The figures comprise the financial results of 16 Albanian banks. The largest by assets among them are Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) and Raiffeisen Bank Albania.
