May 22 (SeeNews) - Albania's prime minister Edi Rama said that the country will open its borders by the end of the month as it prepares for the tourist season, local media reported.
However, the government is also preparing for a potential second Covid-19 wave as a result of the border opening, Tirana Times quoted Rama as saying during a parliamentary session on Thursday.
Albania confirmed its first two coronavirus cases in early March. Later that month, the country closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights in an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
The number of confirmed cases has reached 969 as of Thursday.
