TIRANA (Albania), September 24 (SeeNews) – Albania’s government plans to increase the minimum gross monthly wage in the country by 4,000 leks to 30,000 leks ($280/240 euro), prime minister Edi Rama said.
The increase will be obligatory for both the public and private sector, the Rama said in a press release on Wednesday.
The government last increased the minimum wage to 26,000 leks almost two years ago.
Albania's average gross monthly wage increased by 2.9% year-on-year to 54,149 leks in the second quarter of 2020, after rising by 3.3% in the previous quarter, the statistical office said earlier this month. The average gross wage in the public sector amounted to 63,389 leks, while in the private sector it stood at 49,280 leks.
