August 19 (SeeNews) - Albania's central bank sold at an auction on Tuesday 9.54 billion leks ($102.9 million/72.9 million euro) in six- and 12-month Treasury bills, down from the 11 billion leks on offer, as yields were mixed, the bank said on Wednesday.
The Bank of Albania sold 5.39 billion leks worth of six-month T-bills, slightly higher than the initial offer of 5.35 billion leks. The T-bills produced a weighted average yield of 7.66%, unchanged from the previous auction held in July.
The bank sought to sell 5.65 billion leks in 12-month T-bills, but dealers placed bids for only 4.154 billion leks. Yields edged slightly higher to 9.29%, from 9.27% at the previous auction held two weeks earlier.
The Bank of Albania has auctioned Treasury bills worth 248 billion leks since the beginning of the year. It auctioned T-bills worth 373 billion leks in par value last year, compared to 386.83 billion leks in 2007.
