April 9 (SeeNews) - The Albanian Development Fund (ADF) said it has selected a joint venture comprising Italian-based consultancy firms ARS Progetti and SPT, and local company PCS, as a consultant on urban infrastructure projects in the southern city of Gjirokastra, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The assignment is estimated to cost 294,318 euro ($349,941), indirect taxes excluded, ADF said in a notice posted on its website on Thursday.
The contractor should draft a detailed design of planned integrated urban works in Gjirokastra.
The assignment is part of a project for integrated development of urban infrastructure and tourism activities focused on Albania's south and financed with the proceeds of a $71 million loan from the World Bank.
The objective of the project is to improve urban infrastructure, enhance tourism assets, and strengthen institutional capacity to support tourism-related local economic development in selected areas, the World Bank said earlier.
ADF is a public agency whose mission is to encourage a sustainable, balanced and cohesive socio-economic development at local and regional level. The ADF was established at the beginning of 1993, based on an agreement between the Albanian government and the World Bank.
