TIRANA (Albania), May 29 (SeeNews) – Albania has called a tender for the preparation of a master plan and a feasibility study for communal infrastructure works in the area of the Albanian Alps, in the country's north, the Albanian Development Fund (ADF) said.
ADF intends to finance the project with a grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework, it said in an invitation for expressions of interest posted on its website on Wednesday.
The Albanian Alps have a population of around 35,000 inhabitants spread in ten mountainous sparsely populated communes, as the limited economic activities available coupled with the poor state of the infrastructure in the Alps area constitute a major obstacle to the development of this region.
The overall envisaged period of implementation of the project is 18 months.
Expressions of interest should be submitted by July 7.
The ADF is a public agency whose mission is to encourage a sustainable, balanced and cohesive socio-economic development at local and regional level. It was established at the beginning of 1993, based on an agreement between the Albanian government and the World Bank.
