May 29 (SeeNews) - Albania called a tender for a 35-year concession for the construction, operation and transfer of a hydropower plant (HPP) on the Vjosa river, the energy ministry said.
The hydropower plant will be built near the Kalivac village, in southern Albania, the ministry said in an announcement published on Friday on the website of the Public Procurement Agency.
The offers will be evaluated by six criteria - proposed value of the concession fee, ecological and social impact, installed capacity of the plant, time necessary for the implementation of the project, scheme of the plant's connection with the power system and bidder's evaluation of the works which were already carried out.
Interested companies are invited to apply until July 18.
The ministry annulled a contract with previous concessionaire, Italian company BEG. Under the contract, BEG was obliged to build a 108 MW hydropower plant, which was due to be completed in 2012. However, the company entered a series of lawsuits with local subcontractors.
