November 23 (SeeNews) - Airbus Helicopters has won a 36.55 million euro ($43.3 million) contract to repair medical helicopters in the fleet of Romania's interior ministry, a noticfe published in the national electronic system for public procurement, SEAP, showed.
Under the four-year contract, Airbus Helicopters will make repairs, offer technical assistance, logistical support, spare parts and consumables in order to repair and maintain in operation EC-135 and H-135-type helicopters used for missions by Romania's emergency search and rescue service, SMURD, the notice published showed.
According to the notice, Airbus was the only bidder for the contract with an estimated cost of 33.26 million euro.
Airbus Helicopters operates a 10,000 sq m factory in Brasov which is to house production of the H215M model in Romania. Established in 2002, Airbus Helicopters Romania is a joint venture between Airbus Helicopters, with 51%, and state-run aircraft repair and maintenance company IAR Brasov with 49%. In November 2018, IAR Brasov and Airbus Helicopters have signed a cooperation agreement for production of the H215M multi-role helicopter in Romania.
