December 22 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Air Serbia will introduce six new routes of public interest from the airports in Kraljevo and Nis, starting in January 2022, it said.
The new lines will link Nis' Constantine the Great airport to Belgrade, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Cologne, and Ljubljana, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Air Serbia will also operate a flight to Istanbul from Kraljevo's Morava airport. Flights from Nis to Belgrade will operate four times a week, while flights to all other destinations will be available twice every seven days. The routes will be served until the end of 2023.
Additional flights Nis-Tivat, Nis-Athens, Kraljevo-Thessaloniki, and Kraljevo-Tivat, will operate during the peak summer season.
According to a Serbian government definition adopted in February 2019, routes of public interest typically account for fewer than 100,000 passengers per year but play a role in either attracting foreign investments or providing Serbian diaspora with improved connections to the country.
"We are happy that we are expanding our offer from South and West Serbia and Sumadija. In this way, we will make it much easier for our passengers to plan their trips, as well as contribute to the strengthening of commercial and tourism activities in these parts of Serbia," said Jiri Marek, general manager commercial and strategy at Air Serbia.
