BELGRADE (Serbia), May 17 (SeeNews) – Flag carrier Air Serbia plans to start the sale of tickets for subsidised services on 12 international destinations from the Konstantin Veliki Airport in the eastern city of Nis on May 17, it said.
The first subsidised flights will take off from July 15 and will be operated at least twice a week, Air Serbia said in a statement on Thursday.
"Our aim is to enable the citizens of Nis to fly under the most favorable possible conditions to these 12 destinations on offer. The flights will be performed using an Airbus A319 aircraft in Air Serbia livery," the CEO of Air Serbia, Duncan Naysmith, said.
Last week, Air Serbia won a tender to operate subsidised services on 12 international destinations from the Konstantin Veliki Airport - to Nuremburg, Frankfurt (Hahn), Hanover, Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe, Salzburg, Rome, Bologna, Budapest, Gothenburg, Ljubljana and Tivat.
Air Serbia was the only bidder in the tender which was opened last month, even though other companies had also shown interest, the transport ministry said earlier without elaborating.
