July 23 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-run airport operator Aerodromi Srbije expects to assume the management of Konstantin Veliki airport in Nis by the end of August, Aerodromi Srbije director Mihajlo Zdravkovic has said.
"After the merger, there will be only one company at Nis airport, Aerodromi Srbije. This company will hire the employees at the airport and will be its operator," Zdravkovic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug on Monday.
The headquarters of Aerodromi Srbije was moved to Nis at the end of June and will stay there, Zdravkovic said.
Serbia's government said in August 2018 it signed a contract to take over the management of Nis airport from the city council, in order to enhance investment in the airport.
Aerodromi Srbije, a newly established state-owned company in charge of the management, development and maintenance of all Serbian airports, started operations in the first half of February. The company's first task was to open the Morava airport in Kraljevo for civil aviation operations following a 10 million euro ($11.2 million) conversion of the military air base there into a civilian airport.
