PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 10 (SeeNews) – Montenegrin company Adriatic Marinas said on Friday that, as of August 20, it had invested a total of 396 million euro ($443.4 million) in its Porto Montenegro luxury yacht port and marina village in Tivat.
The next phase of investments includes the construction of a Regent Pool Club complex with 60 apartments and a range of business zones, a company spokesperson told SeeNews via email.
The company is also planning to invest some 12-15 million euro in an exclusive casino and is currently in talks with several large global operators for its construction.
Porto Montenegro was visited by 11,000-13,000 tourists this summer. Adriatic Marinas is currently in negotiations with a number of potential partners, galleries and large yachting brands with the aim to increase the resort's appeal for yachting aficionados and place Montenegro on the list of must-see nautical destinations, the spokesperson said.
Porto Montenegro currently offers 450 berths for yachts 12-180 m in length and it is planned by completion to offer 850, including 350 specifically for superyachts - the largest offering in Europe, data from its website indicated.
Last summer, the five-star waterfront Regent hotel worth 55 million euro opened for business within the yacht port and marina village.
Tivat is located in the bay of Kotor, the largest natural harbour in the eastern Mediterranean with 62 miles of coastline.
