TIRANA (Albania), September 19 (SeeNews) – The Albanian Development Fund (ADF) said on Wednesday it is seeking consultancy services for enhancing the tourism experience in the southern city of Gjirokastra, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The project will be financed with the proceeds of a World Bank loan.
The bidding deadline is October 2 and the assignment must be performed in nine months for design services and 13 months for the supervision phase, ADF said in a procurement notice.
The assignment is part of a project for integrated urban and tourism development focused on Albania's south and financed by the World Bank with a $71 million (60.8 million euro) loan.
The purpose of the assignment is to design and supervise the implementation of a tourist-friendly system of museums in Gjirokastra, defined by thematic interpretive pathways/trails connecting the different museums, enhanced by activities in the study area to support the development of a tourism product and encourage tourists to stay longer and have a more interesting stay in Gjirokastra, according to the procurement notice.
The Albanian Development Fund (ADF) is a public agency whose mission is to encourage a sustainable, balanced and cohesive socio-economic development at local and regional level. The ADF was established at the beginning of 1993, based on an agreement between the Albanian government and the World Bank.
