June 9 (SeeNews) - France-headquartered hotel group AccorHotels plans to start operating a hotel in Serbia as part of its expansion in Southeast Europe, the company's regional manager said on Friday.
"We plan to start operating a new hotel in Serbia through a management agreement. We will share more details, including location and opening date, next week," Frank Reul, AccorHotels' area general manager for Southeast Europe, told SeeNews.
"We have two openings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, one in Macedonia and several in Romania in 2017," Reul said, adding that the market in the SEE region is very dynamic for the company.
Slovenia is also a target country, however there is nothing specific at the time, he added.
AccorHotels also plans to open two hotels in the Bulgarian capital Sofia by the end of first quarter of 2019. The two hotels - Novotel Sofia Centre and Ibis Sofia Centre - will have a total of 250 rooms.
The company is currently operating Novotel Sofia and Ibis Sofia Airport hotels which according to the manager are "both performing exceptionally well".
In 2015, Polish hotel chain operator Orbis said it signed a master licence agreement with Accor to operate until 2035, including a minimum 10-year exclusivity, the hotel business under the Accor brand in 16 countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia.
