LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), April 29 (SeeNews) – A1 Telekom Austria Group said its Slovenian unit posted an annual drop of 0.5% in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in the first quarter of 2020, to 13.8 million euro ($15 million).
A1 Slovenija’s revenues fell by 5.0% year-on-year to 48.6 million euro in January-March, while its costs and expenses decreased by 6.6% to 34.8 million euro, the telecommunications group said in an interim financial statement on Tuesday.
"Higher fixed-line revenues and better equipment margin partially mitigated lower mobile service revenues [in Slovenia]," A1 said.
The capital expenditures of the Slovenian unit rose by 4.6% on the year to 2.3 million euro in the first quarter of 2020.
The number of wireless subscribers of A1 Slovenija, previously known as Si.mobil, rose to 702,000 at the end of March from 698,000 a year earlier, while the number of fixed lines increased to 85,000 from 76,000.
A1 Slovenija is the second largest mobile operator in the Adriatic state after Mobitel, a unit of state-owned Telekom Slovenije. It also competes with smaller peers such as United Group's Telemach (former Tusmobil), T-2, and HOT Mobil (Hofer), among others.
