February 13 (SeeNews) - A1 Telekom Austria Group said the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of its Serbian unit Vip Mobile rose by 22.5% year-on-year to 47 million euro ($53.1 million) in 2018.
The unit's total revenue increased 8% to 249.2 million euro in 2018 as a result of higher mobile service income due to the growing share of mobile subscribers in the new tariff portfolio, as well as rise of mobile WiFi routers, Telekom Austria said in an annual financial statement published on Tuesday.
In the fourth quarter of 2018 alone, the EBITDA of Telekom Austria's Serbian unit grew 2.9% on the year to 9.9 million euro, while its revenue went up 1.2% to 67 million euro.
The number of wireless subscribers increased by 0.6% year-on-year to 2.195 million at end-December.
Vip Mobile's main competitors are Telenor Serbia, a unit of Czech Republic-based investment group PPF, and state-owned MTS.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, A1 Telekom Austria is present in Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia and Slovenia.
