LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 14 (SeeNews) – Telekom Austria said its wireless unit A1 Slovenija, previously known as Si.mobil, posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 40.6 million euro ($50.2 million) in 2017, down 23.2% on the year.
A1 Slovenija's total revenues edged up 0.9% year-on-year to 216.1 million euro, Telekom Austria said in an annual financial statement on Tuesday.
Service revenues fell 0.9% on the year to 167.9 million euro, while equipment revenue increased 8.4% to 43.8 million euro.
The company's wireless subscribers decreased 1.5% on the year to 703,300 at end-2017.
In the fourth quarter alone, A1 Slovenija's EBITDA fell 24.9% year-on-year to 7.6 million euro, while revenues decreased 1.8% to 54.1 million euro.
A1 Slovenija competes with Slovenia's largest cellphone operator, Mobitel, a unit of state-owned Telekom Slovenije, T-2, Debitel, Izi Mobil, and Tusmobil.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Telekom Austria is present in Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia.
