October 14 (SeeNews) - A1 Croatia, a subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria Group, said it started the construction of an 11 million euro ($13 million) data centre in Zagreb.
The construction of the data centre began in September, and the new facility is expected to be completed and commissioned in the third quarter of 2021, A1 Croatia said in a statement on Tuesday.
The new data centre that will use up-to-date technology will meet the increased demand for cloud solutions resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and the earthquake that struck Zagreb in March.
"Apart from additional capacities for A1 Croatia and its users, the new data centre will also ensure the development of the data centre market in Croatia, since it will be the second data centre in the region that will be officially certified in the Tier III standard by the Uptime Institute," Igor Grdic, sales manager at Vertiv Croatia, which is developing the project for A1 Croatia, said in the statement.
Tier III data centres guarantee the highest standards of quality and security, A1 Croatia noted.
"By choosing the solutions of the A1 data centres, business users make great savings on equipping their own spaces, while receiving a reliable solution of high quality, certified by a global authority in the field of data centres," the head of network management and IT services at A1 Croatia, Antonia Kujundzic Velimirovic, said.
