July 17 (SeeNews) - A1 Bulgaria telco grew earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) by 13.3% on the year to 87.9 million euro ($98.5 million) in the first half of 2019, parent company A1 Telekom Austria Group said.
"The increase in EBITDA for the international operations was particularly supported by Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia," A1 Telekom Austria Group said in a half-year financial statement on Tuesday.
A1 Bulgaria's revenue rose 3.9% to 226.5 million euro in the first six months of the year, the parent company said.
The rise was mainly due to higher service revenues, which increased to 182.9 million euro from 170.9 million euro in the like period of last year.
Capital expenditure increased by 7.7% to 26.5 million euro.
The number of A1 Bulgaria's wireless subscribers decreased by an annual 3.4% to 3.8 million in the first half of 2019 due to the removal of inactive SIM-cards, while the average revenue per user (ARPU) increased by 7.6%.
A1 Bulgaria competes with Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), which operates under the brand name Vivacom, Telenor Bulgaria owned by Czech Republic-based investment group PPF, and Max Telecom.
