July 15 (SeeNews) - A1 Telekom Austria Group said that its unit A1 Bulgaria has grown its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) by 12.4% year-on-year to 35 million euro ($40 million) in the first half of 2020.
A1 Bulgaria's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by an annual 6.9% to 94 million euro in the January-June period of 2020, A1 Telekom Austria Group said in an interim financial statement on Tuesday.
The Bulgarian unit's revenue increased by 9.9% to 249 million euro in the first six months of 2020, as service revenue added 8.1% to 197.7 million euro.
The rise in service revenue was driven by a 14.2% increase in fixed-line service revenue, which amounted to 64.7 million euro in the review period. Mobile service revenue totalled 133.1 million euro, up 5.4%.
Capital expenditure in Bulgaria grew 10.4% to 29.2 million euro in the first half of 2020.
A1 Bulgaria's wireless subscribers decreased to 3.76 million at the end of June, down 2% year-on-year.
In the second quarter alone, A1 Bulgaria's EBIT increased 12.1% to 18.4 million euro, as revenue added 5.3% to 121.5 million euro.
A1 Bulgaria competes with Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), which operates under the brand name Vivacom, and Telenor Bulgaria owned by Dutch-registered investment group PPF.
