February 12 (SeeNews) - A1 Telekom Austria Group said that its unit A1 Bulgaria posted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of 66.9 million euro ($73 million) in 2019, compared to a loss before interest and taxes of 106.8 million euro the year before.
A1 Bulgaria's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by an annual 12.5% to 179.4 million euro, as depreciation and amortisation costs dropped 57.8% to 112.5 million euro, the telecommunications group in its 2019 annual financial statement on Tuesday.
The Bulgarian unit's revenue increased 9.2% on the year to 486.2 million euro in 2019, as service revenue added 8.7% to 378.5 million euro. Average revenue per user grew 9.3% to 5.6 euro.
Mobile service revenue rose 6% to 260.6 million euro, while fixed-line service revenue was 15.2% higher at 117.9 million euro.
A1 Bulgaria's wireless subscribers decreased by 2.8% year-on-year to 3.82 million at the end of 2019.
A1 Bulgaria competes with Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), which operates under the brand name Vivacom, and Telenor Bulgaria owned by Dutch-registered investment group PPF.
