April 29 (SeeNews) - A1 Telekom Austria Group said that its unit A1 Bulgaria grew its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) by 12.7% year-on-year to 16.6 million euro ($18 million) in the first quarter of 2020
A1 Bulgaria's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by an annual 7.2% to 45.9 million euro in the January-March period of 2020, A1 Telekom Austria Group said in an interim financial statement on Tuesday.
A1 Bulgaria's revenue increased by 14.8% year-on-year to 127.6 million euro in the first three months of the year, as service revenue added 10.3% to 98.7 million euro.
The rise in service revenue was driven by a 15.9% increase in fixed-line service revenue, which amounted to 32.1 million euro in the review period. Mobile service revenue totalled 66.6 million euro, up 7.8% year-on-year.
Capital expenditure in Bulgaria jumped 41.1% to 14.3 million euro in the first quarter of 2020.
A1 Bulgaria's wireless subscribers edged down 0.4% year-on-year to 3.822 million at the end of March.
A1 Bulgaria competes with Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC), which operates under the brand name Vivacom, and Telenor Bulgaria owned by Dutch-registered investment group PPF.
