Sept 30, 1992 - United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) AD is established through the merger of 22 local commercial banks. UBB AD receives a full bank licence, issued by the Bulgarian National Bank, on Feb 25, 1991.
July 22, 1997 - Bulgaria state-run Bank Consolidation Company AD sells a 99.6% stake in UBB AD to a consortium, consisting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), local bank Bulbank AD and U.S. brokerage CIBC Oppenheimer & Co. Inc for USD 3.0 mln in cash and another USD 45 mln in pledged recapitalisation.
July 20, 2000 - National Bank of Greece acquires a 89.9% stake in UBB for USD 207 mln.
Apr 23, 2004 - UBB AD establishes its local investment arm UBB Asset Management AD.
July 20, 2004 - National Bank of Greece raises its share in UBB AD to 99.9%.
Nov 1, 2004 - UBB AD sets up its Bulgarian investment unit UBB Balanced Fund AD.
Sept 29, 2006 - UBB AD, Greek insurer Ethniki Greek General Insurance Company SA and U.S. AIG Central Europe & CIS Insurance Holdings Corporation establish Bulgarian insurance company UBB AIG Insurance Company AD, in which UBB holds a 30% stake.
May 5, 2007 - UBB AD sets up local insurance company UBB Insurance Broker AD.
Jan 4, 2016 - UBB AD sells its 30% stake in UBB AIG Insurance Company AD to Bulgarian insurance company Bulstrad Vienna Insurance Group AD.
June 13, 2017 - KBC Group acquires 99.9% stake in the company from National Bank of Greece.
Feb 5, 2018 - United Bulgarian Bank AD takes over local peer CIBANK EAD, which is written off the trade register and no longer exists as a separate legal entity.
