July 26 (SeeNews) - Russia’s largest online taxi booking service, Yandex.Taxi has launched in Moldova's capital Chisinau.
Yandex.Taxi uses an online application to track down location of the clients and is available both in Russian and Romanian, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
"With the technology and special algorithms, taxi service becomes convenient and inexpensive. By automatically sending the order to the nearest available driver, we reduce the arrival time, lowering the costs of services. Now we offer the most accessible trips in Chisinau," Yandex.Taxi development director, Mousheg Saakyan, said.
Each driver passes a preliminary check in Yandex.Taxi twice, the company said. First, Yandex checks the knowledge of the city and customer orientation, as well as the technical condition of the car and its compliance with Yandex's quality standards.
Yandex.Taxi is available in sevaral cities in Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia and Kazahstan.
"Every month we expand the geography of our presence and open a service in new cities," the company said.
Yandex.Taxi is part of Yandex Group, a Russian multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products. The company is known as "the Google of Russia", owning the biggest search engine in the country with a market share of over 70%.
In June, Yandex and its US ride-hailing company Uber agreed to combine their Russian ride-sharing businesses, with Yandex the leading partner in a deal that extends to 127 cities in 6 countries (Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Kazakhstan).
