January 5 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air said on Thursday it handled 545,000 passengers in Serbia in 2016, up 19% on the year.
Wizz Air plans to include a second Airbus A320 plane to its Belgrade operating base in 2017, which will allow it to launch four lines, the company said in a statement.
The increase in passenger traffic in 2016 led to the opening of 400 jobs in Serbia, Wizz Air added.
The company started operating in Serbia in 2010 and currently operates flights from Nis and Belgrade airports to a total of 15 destinations in seven countries.
Wizz Air introduced flights from Nis to Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and Dortmund and Memmingen in Germany in August.
Elsewhere in Southeastern Europe, Wizz Air operates flights to Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania.
