August 18 (SeeNews) - Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) said on Thursday its pre-tax profit from operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina increased 70% on the year in the first half of 2022, reaching 400,000 euro ($406,300).
Total gross written premiums of VIG's Bosnian unit rose 12.8% on the year, to 19.3 million euro in the January-June period, VIG said in a first-half financial statement.
Premiums from regular life insurance edged up 2.4% to 7.4 million euro in the six months through June, while premiums from single life insurance increased 30% to 2.4 million euro. Premiums from the health segment went down 2.3% on the year to 100,000 euro in the period under review.
Premiums of the motor third party liability sub-segment of insurance were 7.1% higher at 1.5 million euro, premiums of the CASCO segment rose by 9.1% year-on-year to 1.2 million euro in the six months through June 2022, and other property premiums increased 23% to 6.7 million euro.
VIG, headquartered in Vienna, operates around 50 insurance companies in 25 countries in Europe, including Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Croatia.
