November 24 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Thursday it earned 3.9 million euro ($4.1 million) before taxes from operations in Albania in the first nine months of 2016, up from 3.3 million euro a year ago.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Albania added 6% on the year to 23.9 million euro in the review period, UNIQA said in its interim financial report.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment amounted to 19 million euro, up 10%, whereas premiums from life insurance dropped 8% to 3.2 million euro and those from health insurance declined 6% to 1.6 million euro.
The UNIQA Group is represented in Albania by SIGAL UNIQA Group Austria Sh.A. and SIGAL Life UNIQA Group Austria Sh.A. and the pension fund SH.A.F.P SIGAL Life UNIQA Group AUSTRIA Sh.A.
In Southeastern Europe (SEE), UNIQA also operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. The company's operation in the SEE region generated pre-tax profit of 10.7 million euro in the first nine months, up from 9.2 million euro in the like period of 2015.
