July 6 (SeeNews) - Turkey's consumer price index (CPI) rose 17.53% year-on-year in June, after increasing by an annual 16.59% in the previous month, the country's statistical office said.
On a monthly comparison basis, Turkey's consumer prices went up by 1.94% in June, following a 0.89% increase in May, TurkStat said in a statement on Monday.
The annual rise in consumer prices in June was driven by higher prices of transportation services which added 26.29%. Furnishings and household equipment followed with a price increase of 25.69% year-on-year, whereas prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 19.99%.
Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased the least in June - by an annual 2.01%.
