December 2 (SeeNews) - Turkey's health minister Fahrettin Koca said he expects Covid-19 vaccinations to start in the country after December 11, local media reported.
The first doses of an anti-Covid-19 vaccine will be delivered to healthcare workers, Daily Sabah quoted Koca as saying on Tuesday.
Turkey expects to receive 10-20 million units of Covid-19 vaccine in December and an additional 30 million doses in January and February, Koca added.
Turkey earlier agreed the delivery of 50 million units of China's Sinovac vaccine, which will be administered free of charge.
Koca said in November the country is also in talks with U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer for the supply of its anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Under a potential deal, Pfizer could deliver a million dozes of the vaccine in December and an additional 25 million doses in 2021.
In addition, president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last week that Turkey plans to roll out a locally developed vaccine against Covid-19 by April next year at the latest.
