December 7 (SeeNews) - Greek toy retailer Jumbo said on Wednesday that its sales in Bulgaria increased by 12% on the year in the eleven months through November, or the largest increase compared to its other operations in Romania, Greece and Cyprus.
In November alone, sales in Bulgaria surged by 84% year-on-year, against a 24% rise in overall group sales for the month, Jumbo said in a press release.
By comparison, sales rose by an annual 43% in Romania in November and were 6% higher than a year ago for the whole eleven-month period.
Greece and Cyprus also recorded double-digit sales growth in November, with the group's eleven-month sales rising the most in Cyprus, by some 23% year-on-year.
Increases in November sales are seen in the context of store shutdowns and restrictions in the same month last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Jumbo's board of directors approved a special one-off dividend of 0,3850 euro ($0.41) per share for 2022, which will be distributed starting from December 15.
Jumbo operates nine stores in Bulgaria, of which four are in the capital Sofia.
Last month, it opened a store in the Romanian city of Sibiu, bringing to 16 the total number of its stores on the local market.
