August 25 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose by 8% year-on-year to 1,113,838 in the January-June period, provisional data from the state statistics office showed on Thursday.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew 6.7% in the six months through June to 2,613,640, the office said in a statement.
Foreign tourist arrivals accounted for 66% of the total tourists, whereas foreigners' overnights made up 61% of all overnights in the period.
Domestic tourist totalled 571,132 in the first six months of the year, up 3.6% on the year, taking the total number of arrivals to 1,684,970, up 6.4% on the year.
Domestic tourist spent 1,661,168 nights in Slovenia, up 1.1% on the year, so the number of total overnights increased 4.5% to 4,274,808 through June.
In June alone, the number of foreign tourists rose 3.4% on the year to 275,364, whereas foreign overnights climbed 2.3% to 651,193.
