LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), September 25 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's general government budget surplus decreased by 25% year-on-year to 249 million euro ($290 million) in 2019, equivalent to 0.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP), as expenditures grew faster than revenue, the national statistical office said on Friday, citing revised data.
In March, the statistical office said that the general government budget surplus surplus had fallen by 21% year-on-year to 260 million euro in 2019, still equivalent to 0.5% of GDP.
In the revision, the 2019 general government revenue was corrected slightly downwards to 21.226 billion euro from 21.228 billion euro in the March report, with the revised figure representing a 4.6% increase over 2018, the statistical office said in a statement.
Expenditure was revised upwards to 20.977 billion euro from 20.967 billion euro reported in March, with the new figure representing an annual increase of 5.1%.
The primary budget surplus declined to 1.074 billion euro in 2019 (revised downwards from 1.082 billion euro) from 1.253 billion euro in 2018.
The consolidated general government gross debt dropped to 31.744 billion euro, or 66.1% of GDP, at the end of 2019, from 32.223 billion euro a year earlier, the statistical office said, leaving unchanged the figures released in March.
